Wednesday 07.11.18, The revival we need!

Revive Thy work, 0 Lord!
And manifest Thy power;
Oh, come upon Thy Church, and give
A penitential shower!
Revive Thy work, O Lord!
Come now and answer prayer;
Oh, come in Holy Spirit power,
And save men everywhere!
Revive Thy work, O Lord!
And every soul inspire;
Oh, kindle in each heart, we pray The pentecostal fire!
Revive Thy work, O Lord!
And give abounding joy;
Oh, fill our hearts with perfect love;
And burn out all alloy!
Revive Thy work, 0 Lord!
And make Thy servants bold;
Convict of sin, and work once more
As in the days of old.
Revive Thy work, O Lord!
Fulfill Thy promise true;
Let Jesus Christ be glorified,
And great things for us do.

Hymn from the book of Oswald J. Smith, “The revival we need”

To be parents for the fist time of our live is a new challenge to us! God loves children and hasn’t revoked his first commandment in Gen. 1:28,
“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: …”  The challenge to us is “how to be a family on mission because that’s what we want to be!”.

God has given us a beautiful boy so we have to take care of him. During this first two weeks when I have been going to the shops I have been looking for people were I can share the gospel too. Still most of the time I have been inside taking care of my recovering wife and my newborn son.  Torben Sondergaerd has started to read the book “the Revival we Need”. , from Oswald J. Smith” chapter by chapter with his Luke10 mission school and he has made a teaching from each chapter afterwards. I have read the book with them in quite the same rhythm and have been blessed by it. This book has highlighted the importance of prayer in reaching the last. It is full of testimonies from history from past revivals and how God has used people in bringing these revivals. God is the same yesterday, today and forever, so whatever He has done in the past He can do again with the help of committed disciples!

I also love this poem of Samuel Stevenson, which is written in the book. It tells  about the spiritual state of many of our churches today!

A city full of churches,
Great preachers, lettered men,
Grand music, choirs and organs;
If these all fail, what then?
Good workers, eager, earnest,
Who labour hour by hour:
But where, oh where, my brothers!
Is God’s Almighty power?

Refinement: Education!
They want the very best.
Their plans and schemes are perfect,
They give themselves no rest;
They get the best of talent,
They try their uttermost,
But what they need, my brother,
Is God the Holy Ghost!

We may spend time and money
And preach from wisdom’s lore,
But education only,
Will keep God’s people poor.
God wants not wordly wisdom.
He seeks no smiles to win;
But what is needed, brother,
Is that we deal with sin!

It is the Holy Spirit,
That quickened the soul.
God will not take man-worship,
Nor bow to man’s control.
No human innovation
No skill, or wordly art,
Can give a true repentance,
Or break the sinners heart!

We may have human wisdom,
Grand singing, great succes;
There may be fine equipment,
But these things do not bless.
God wants a pure, clean vessel,
Anointed lips and true,
A man filled with the Spirit,
To speak His message through.

Great God, revive us truly!
And keep us every day;
That men may all acknowledge
We live just as we pray.
The Lord’s hand is not shortened,
He still delights to bless;
If we depart from evil
And all our sins confess.

–Samuel Stevenson.

Family of God, be blessed and have a wonderful day !
